Last one for today, the funny shiny black stone, which, Shelby, you said was igneous... Could not actually break a piece off, but managed to get little brown flakes and powder, which did not fizz. This one looks to have conchoidal fractures, doesn't it? MOHS 2.5 and white streak...

What's MOHS?
Mohs is a hardness scale, helps identify stones, some are soft enough to be scratched with a fingernail, others take a knife.
My don't you sound like the expert! You are right - the correct vocabulary makes all the difference. Interesting to see your finds and your testing. Does Jack help and find his own little stones? Great posts.
