Merry-Go-Round!!!!

It's time for another ride on the merry-go-round! Jump on and join a group of 9 artists/crafts-women as they link around the world and tell you a little about their lives in art and craft.

Our question this month:

How do you network? In what ways does it work and not work?

I am lousy at networking… I guess for me networking is time away from crafting, and in order for networking to be really rewarding, you have to keep at it regularly, and I am very wary of starting something that I cannot keep up with. Crafting takes most hours in my day, and I know I should make time for networking, to get out of my bubble and see the world lol!!

The best and most enjoyable networking I do is right here right now with my fellow merry-go-rounders. We are a group small enough to be personal, big enough to have different and interesting points of view and experiences to share. I guess this type of networking is more my cup of tea, where I ‘know’ people, it ‘means’ something rather than ‘be’ … like Facebook, if you see what I mean…

So how do I network? Well, I blog (whenever I remember to), post on Flickr and although I like Flickr I haven’t been there for quite a while, but it’s a fabulous place to find amazing talents and artists in every domain possible… I spend hours trying to work out having a page on Facebook (unsuccessfully) and I must say I am not a Facebook fan at all… I participate once in a blue moon in forums in Dawanda and the French selling venue A Little Market… I suppose I am a tad unsociable… :P
I guess I’ll need to work on all these listed before starting on anything else!!!

Please have visit the Merriers, you’ll find direct links on the side bar!!
Thanks for reading!!

Deep down, we're all hermits I suppose! ;) I recognise lots of this although I really do enjoy all the contacts I've encountered through networking too 'cause after networking, I can get back to being a hermit! ;)

Facebook is less scary than you think at first - it's good if you have friends who use it, who can promote your page for you! :D

I think if you are happy and selling all that you are selling, then you don't need to do any other networking! Although I have to say that I wasn't keen on facebook to start with and now I really enjoy it....but it is also distracting..and you have too much to do for distraction!

Which one is your Flickr! I want to add you so I can see your work when it is fresh and before people steal them from me (or buy them from you ahahha).
Well, I guess that If I were leaving in a sunny place, right by the beach... I would go from crafting to a glass of wine by the shore without stopping by the computer AT ALL! ahahahaaa
It's nice to hear from you dear...

It is important to find something congenial, isn't it?

I agree with Mitsy... in a way we are all hermits... creation takes time! However, I agree, I think a blog is the best way to socialise.
