Merry-Go-Round...

It's time for another ride on the merry-go-round! Jump on and join a group of 10 artists/crafts-women as they link around the world and tell you a little about their lives in art and craft.

This month question is: What is your favorite publication(s)? Is there a book, books, magazine, or website that has become the bible of your art/craft?

My favourite publication is the French magazine "DREAMS" (it exists in English too), a mag that specializes in making me drool and dribble over rivers of diamonds, ruby flowers and other architectural beauties that only the world of Haute Couture Joaillerie is able to produce...

Check out the mag's website: http://www.dreams-magazine.com/

As money is no object in the world of Haute Joaillerie, in "Dreams" you get to see the absolutely mind blowing folding, draping and sculpting of gold, incrusted in fine stones, 3D flowers and organic rings with a living plant growing on your finger, the pendants turn and twist and transform, feathery watches look just about to take off, truly princesses and Queens' adornments. It is a constant source of inspiration to me. Together with informative well written articles (some in French AND English), and advertising pages that play on words and use puns to grab your attention, you get a feast for the eyes on each page. Truly amazing! It makes me want to go further with wire-wrapping, to learn new techniques and mix skills to get to that ultimate WOW factor. When I get there, I'll have achieved my goal... :)

And if there are websites or blogs that have become very important to me in tems of inspiration...They are yours, Merry-go-Round Girls! Where else do you find textures and unbelievable colour combos (Mariana, Sara, Charlotte and Lily), charm and softness (Agathe and Jenny), an amazing eye and how to look at things in a different way (Wendren), and an unbelievable skilfull sculptor on a tiny scale (Ruth)? So there you have it girls, you're my bible!

Thanks for reading :)

Please go and visit all merry-go-rounders' blogs, you'll find direct links on the sidebar. Remember we are on on different time zones!

aawwwwww how warm!
I get the feeling that i saw a copy of that magazine once somewhere... lots of sprakly expensive things inside.
Well, as much as I like looking at those, you can only wear them if you bring half an army to protect you from robbers! I much rather your gorgeous work...luscious, rich and yet no need for an army!

I like the delicate, beautiful complicated and dream like style. I should read the "DREAMS" one day. It sounds wonderful. Thank you for introducing it!

Dreams magazine sounds amazing! I doubt that we get it here in South Africa but I will keep my eye open for it. Sounds beautiful.

Wonderful sounding magazine. I love your description. Will have to get one next time I'm in England.

And how lovely to mention us merry-go-rounders too! It is amazing how powerful "electronic" connections can be and how these friendships are so supportive and inspiring...and many other things too.
